Elle Fanning has established herself as a red carpet style star. Marc Piasecki/FilmMagic

Elle Fanning has been working in Hollywood since she was just a toddler. Making her film debut at just two years old (playing the younger version of her big sister, Dakota, in the 2001 film, I Am Sam), Fanning already had dozens of on-screen credits to her name by the time of her breakout role in Maleficent at 16 years old. Of course, she’d displayed her style expertise with plenty of red carpet looks, too, which helped her win over fashion brands early on in her career.

In 2011, American designer Marc Jacobs chose Fanning as the face of his upcoming Marc by Marc

Giorgio Armani, Zegna present fluid elegance for the next hot season as Milan Fashion Week wraps up

MILAN (AP) — Milan Fashion Week opened and closed under a beating early summer sun.

Zegna wrapped up four days of shows Monday with an outdoor event set among bales of raw linen behind Milan’s City Hall, allowing city workers a view out of their windows. For the sweltering fashion crowd, Zegna fashion offered iced coffee and linen baseball caps to keep things cool.

With temperatures rising, Milan designers focused on fluidity in dressing, allowing the body to move without constrictions. With one notable dissenter, runways offered thigh-revealing Bermuda shorts as an alternative to trousers even for city dressing. Gone are the long shorts of streetwear brands.

Some highlights from the final day of Milan Fashion Week of mostly menswear previews for next spring and summer:

A Fashion Designer’s Classic Milanese Aperitivo

In Milan, there’s one unofficial but very important entertaining rule: Never throw a party on a Saturday night. Monday through Friday, the city is brimming with creative people — the quiet engines running the design and fashion industries — but, when the weekend rolls around, they tend to leave for the nearby Swiss Alps or the Mediterranean coast. Weekdays are when the Milanese gather and the aperitivo, a postwork, pre-dinner cocktail hour, defines the city’s social life. “The Milanese are very busy,” says the fashion designer Damir Doma, 42, a native of Croatia who was raised in Germany and has been living in the northern Italian city since 2016. “Aperitivo brings everyone together for a short moment to have a drink and a chat.”

But for Doma, an aperitivo can also be a celebration. That was the case on a brisk Thursday evening earlier this year, when he invited friends

Satoshi Kuwata of Setchu Wins the LVMH Prize, Fashion’s Biggest Young Designer Award

Satoshi Kuwata, the Japanese designer and founder of Setchu, a brand that bridges East and West, craft and transformation, has won the 2023 LVMH Prize for Young Designers, the largest and most prestigious such award in the fashion industry.

He will receive 400,000 euros (about $429,000) and a year of mentoring from an LVMH executive.

The Karl Lagerfeld special jury award was given to Julie Pelipas, the founder of Bettter, a Ukrainian women’s wear brand built on repurposing dead stock, and Luca Magliano of Magliano, an Italian men’s wear brand. Both will receive 200,000 euros and a yearlong mentorship.

The LVMH prize is a bellwether for larger trends within the fashion industry, especially among young designers responding to the political and social concerns of their generation. In the past, gender fluidity was a common theme, as was sustainability.

The True-Luxury 3.0 Summit Discusses Fashion’s Place In Climate Friendly Practices

Today was the True-Luxury 3.0 Summit in London, that brought together those in the luxury sector to discuss climate positive practices. In its third edition, fashion, food, hospitality, lifestyle, travel, and technology were the six sectors at the heart of the discussions and networking.

The summit was founded by Laboni Saha, a London-based designer who wanted to create a gathering of those in the luxury sector to discuss ways in which luxury can incentivize customers to make positive changes in their consumerism, that will in turn be better for the planet. “The fashion industry is in a very strong position to influence consumer habits, because similar to food, we all consume fashion, in some form or another. The industry has over the past decades gotten us in the habit of buying based on trends, on

Ciara’s Fashion Brand Is About More Than Clothes

House of LR&C, which encompasses three different lines, is on a mission to change fashion from the inside.

Getty Images

When Ciara set out to add fashion designer to her long list of titles and accomplishments, it wasn’t about checking a box or building up her personal brand. It was about creating something that could lead toward a more sustainable fashion industry. For her, The House of LR&C Fashion — which encompasses her women’s brand LITA, her husband Russell Wilson’s brand Good Man Brand, and their gender-neutral line, Human Kind — was about a larger mission.

“We wanted to take a different approach. We talked about democratizing fashion … We knew our mission ultimately was to impact people through it.” Ciara exclusively told InStyle after her panel discussion at the United Nations Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network Annual Meeting last week, co-convened by the Fashion Impact Fund and the United Nations Office
