Soccer fans have a lot to get excited about this summer. After months of anticipation, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup officially kicked off this week in the host countries of Australia and New Zealand, and it’s set to feature a bevy of nail-biting matchups that will culminate in the event’s final game, taking place on Aug. 20. The competitive showcase — which only happens once every four years — brings together some of the best players and teams from around the world for a high-energy showdown that puts the spirit of the sport on full display, all while delivering a number of surprises and heartbreaks along the way.
