Milan Fashion Week: What Do We Want To Wear Now?

When you think of Italian fashion, your mind typically bounces from one end of the spectrum to the other. All out glamour, or sophisticated, quality staples. Unsurprisingly, this season in Milan, the needle moved rapidly as designers made their debuts, shared their swan songs, and established themselves as part of the new guard. But where the magic truly lies is when a collection connects the dot and shows you don’t have to pick just one or the other. “Quiet luxury” might be a trending term as of late, but it’s long been the Italian modus operandi—and this season, the best collections proved that everything from a button-down to a gown should be infused with beauty and evoke the same emotional response.

Chatter in the front rows reverberated a lot around point of view: who has it down pat, who is still finding their footing, and who’s borrowing too

PCC Fashion Design students prepare for spring show

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Pima Community College’s Fashion Design program has five decades under its belt—a true hidden gem on campus, according to some.

“A lot people don’t know that Pima has a fashion program,” says Savannah Franco. Franco is the director of the program’s upcoming showcase on Friday, May 19.

“I actually started off doing criminal justice, I had no idea a fashion program existed here,” says Franco.

Though some may not know about it, PCC’s Fashion Design and Clothing Department has a lot to offer students wanting to pursue a career in fashion.

“I did not know how to sew when I started in the fashion program and then I came out with my own clothing brand,” Franco tells me.

New ways to buy designer fashion at discount store prices

There’s a lot to love about designer bags and clothing — except for the price. That is where the secondary market comes in.

We’re not just talking old jeans and t-shirts, however, as you can now buy actual name-brand designer clothing at just a fraction of the original price.

Lindsay Patterson is a freelance sports reporter and blogger who needs to look sharp. She has been renting designer clothing from the site Rent the Runwayfor several years.

“You don’t need all the dress clothes like we used to have in our closet,” she said, explaining her decision to rent.

Patterson said she’s saved thousands of dollars on designer-name fashion by renting and purchasing used items.

“The original price could be $800 or $900,” she said, “and you are getting it for $50 or $60.”

Amazon teams up with Rent the Runway

Patterson is thrilled that Rent the Runway has

Benjamin Benmoyal Fall/Winter 2023 – Fucking Young!

by Anna Barr

After graduating from Central Saint Martins where he won the Grand Prix LVMH Scholarship in 2019, the French/Israeli designer Benjamin Benmoyal, 32 years old, gained some experience at Alexander McQueen and Hermes before founding his eponymous label in 2020. A year later, the brand integrated the official Paris Fashion Week calendar and the FHCM’s showroom (Sphère). It is now sold at retailers worldwide. In 2022, the young label was finalist of the ANDAM fashion award prize.

Combining upcycling and innovation, Benjamin defines a singular territory, marked by his personal history. As a former commando paratrooper, he wanted to transcribe through his work the desire to recover the naivety lost during his military service. Therefore, he has started his label by creating unique fabrics, woven out of his childhood Disney movies VHS tapes as a symbol of his stolen innocence. Since then, the brand has evolved and

North Carolina jewelry maker has her creations featured in Netflix film | WFAE 90.7

SHELBY, N.C. — When a friend gave Beth Coiner two delicate fishbones she had found on the beach one day, Coiner knew she wanted to create a pair of earrings out of the slender filaments with tiny razor tooth edges, but she never anticipated they would end up in a comedy horror film.

“The Menu,” which is available on Netflix, has several scenes where actress Hong Chau is wearing the Shelby woman’s creations.

Coiner said filming was taking place in Savannah, and the costumer designer saw the earrings in a Charleston shop, called Worthwhile, where Coiner was selling some of her work. They ended up buying them to be worn in the movie and then requested six more pairs, which were sent back to Coiner after filming was done.

Coiner said when she got a call letting her know they not only wanted a main character in a feature
