What Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton Debut Means for Designers, Fashion, and Culture at Large

The Pont Neuf is Paris’s oldest bridge, dating back to the 16th century, and this summer, Louis Vuitton claimed it as its own. The brand decked the surface in a golden version of its signature checkerboard Damier motif and ferried some of the world’s most starry people—LeBron, Rihanna, DiCaprio, Beyoncé—to the front row in a boat. A gospel choir’s rousing benediction filled the air as models, including former Zegna designer Stefano Pilati and rapper Pusha T, sauntered down the runway illuminated by the warm mauve glow of a perfect Parisian sunset. The show closed with a surprise performance by Jay-Z. Vuitton had named Pharrell Williams as its newest men’s creative director back in February, but it wasn’t until this spectacle of extravagance that his arrival was well and truly announced.

It should be noted that there was plenty of navel-gazing and hand-wringing by the fashion press when the Pharrell news

See Jennifer Lopez’s 3 ‘Dreamy’ Ralph Lauren Wedding Dresses for Georgia Ceremony to Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez‘s wedding wardrobe is befitting of a style icon.

The bride turned to fellow Bronx native Ralph Lauren to design her dream wedding capsule — three striking dresses that she wore throughout her Georgia wedding celebration on Saturday, Aug. 20, with husband Ben Affleck.

After marrying in an intimate Las Vegas affair last month, the newlyweds celebrated their nuptials during a weekend of festivities with family and friends at their home in Riceboro, Georgia, on the Hampton Island preserve outside of Savannah. Lopez dazzled in three different designs from the Ralph Lauren team.

All the details on Jennifer Lopez’s three wedding dresses

Did anyone expect Jennifer Lopez to settle for just one wedding dress?

The stylish superstar married Ben Affleck (again) in an epic all-white wedding ceremony at his Georgia home on August 20, sporting three Ralph Lauren gowns in one night.

The first, which Lopez wore to walk down the aisle, was a twist on the designer’s classic turtleneck column dress.

Over 1,000 handkerchiefs and 500 meters of fabric were cut into ruffles and attached by hand to create the voluminous, romantic skirt, per Ralph Lauren’s press release, and the look was paired with a cathedral-length veil for an added dose of drama.

The bride also sparkled in nearly $100,000 worth of Mikimoto jewelry, pairing delicate white pearl-and-diamond earrings with a matching floral ring.
